I trained in Textile Design at Ravensbourne College and Central Saint Martins. I have a passion for small intricate techniques and I enjoy the versatility of textiles techniques and their adaptability within other areas of design.

My interest in ethical and sustainable design practice challenges me to think about traditional or commonly used techniques and their affect on people and the environment. I have a lot of experience working with upcycling techniques and waste material. Pioneering company Worn Again, whose corporate clients include Virgin Atlantic, Mcdonalds, Eurostar, are one of the sustainably aware organisations which I have worked for. It was with them I gained an insight into huge resource that is waste materials.

Since then, I have become an individual Fellow of The Ethical Fashion Forum and Source platform. I also now run textile workshops and assist with The Slow Textiles Group.

I am now at Cockpit Arts Holborn, sharing a studio with other Designer-Makers who are on their joint creative Careers Programme with The Princes Trust.

Zoe Powell's Projects (1)

Zoe's Updates (1)

Fashion garment: I created a top based on a lattice dress I saw in Montevideo. I used the scrap fabric which was leftover from a jacket my grandmother had made many years before. It was a total experiment. I analysed the technique on the dress and figured how I could recreate the look/design. View update 2 Apr Image attached
