What are the benefits of online Therapy?

The great thing about online therapy is that it’s so accessible. If you live in a rural area, have physical limitations or a hectic work schedule, or may not feel comfortable leaving the house, then travelling to your therapist may be an extra burden. With online therapy, you can get the help you need from anywhere in the world. You might be wondering how to choose the right online therapist without ever meeting them in person. With Bark, you can browse hundreds of potential therapists to find the right match. Check out their Bark profiles, websites, and customer reviews to help you make a decision.

How does online Therapy work?

Online therapy is very much like traditional therapy, the only real difference is that it takes place through email, telephone, video call, or even text messages. Like traditional therapy, your online therapist will help you to overcome difficult emotions and challenging life circumstances by listening and helping you to develop coping strategies. Whichever type of mental health help you need, Bark has hundreds of trusted online therapy professionals ready to support you in a broad range of specialisms. Just tell us what you need and we’ll put you in touch with the best online therapists.

How much do Therapists cost?

This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.

This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.

Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.

What should I look for in a Therapist?

Each route has its own leading body. For counselling it is the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), for psychotherapy, it is the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), for CBT it is the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and for clinical or counselling psychology it is the British Psychological Society (BPS). Each of these bodies accredits courses so make sure to choose an accredited therapist.

Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.

What are the benefits of Therapy?

Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.

How do I find the right Therapist?

You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.

It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.

What do you love most about your job?

Watching the fast release of anxiety, stress and trauma in clients, leaving the real person, empowered, confident and in calm control. Clients love learning the self-regulation techniques which immediately bring back control into their lives.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Realising that much of what was on offer to people today for mental, emotional and physical wellbeing wasn't working. The increase in medication, rising levels of stress in all its forms in over 74% of people in the UK seemed wrong and unacceptable. I knew there had to be a better way, a lasting way. Since 2007/8 I have used a unique system in both workplace and 1-2-1 sessions, always with lasting results.

Why should our clients choose you?

People come to me who want a permanent solution instead of a temporary fix ? I see many who have been in talk therapy and/or CBT which was helpful but hasn’t brought the lasting change they want and need.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I see people face to face in my Essex rooms but work mainly online around via Zoom

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

During Covid, it was online only. Post Covid I have followed the UK Health and Safety Guidelines.

Peter was brilliant from start to finish, very clam and methodical approach, from the start i saw and felt a massive difference in myself, even now friends and family say they see a change in me too, which is great to know that I feel better within myself and other people see it to. I would highly recommend Peter for anyone who is looking to go down the road of hypnotherapy, Peter himself was great with being accommodating with times and very flexible and always at the end of the phone if needed. Would highly recommend and will go back to him in the future if needed!

I have no hesitation in recommending Jennifer’s expert help with managing anxiety and depression. She was kind, caring and with a lot of patience while she was carrying out her weekly CBT sessions which have been really helpful.
