Graphic Designer / Apparel Designer (August 2008 - January 2011)
In late 2008, while still holding the role with SYN, I was employed as one of a team of five to work for Conquest Sports, a sportswear wholesaler. The role was a trail-by-fire blossoming into apparel design. From simply ‘prints on t-shirts’ design, study was undertaken outside of hours to understand garment construction and fabrics, and by the end of the year I was responsible for designing ranges of garments for seasons – men’s, women’s and children’s – found in the company’s retail outlets and stores such as Rebel Sport.
The role including garment sketches, story-boarding themes, measuring/separating prints for execution, colour matching and organisation, as well as photographing for advertisements and designing catalogues (print and web).
